This Independence Day, Let’s Celebrate Nigeria Over Coffee ☕

October 1st is a day to celebrate where we come from and tomorrow at EBC, we’re inviting you to experience a little more of what makes Nigeria’s coffee story worth talking about.

Tomorrow is the final day of EBC Pop-Up Week Lagos 2026, and we’re closing four days of coffee, culture, flavour and connection with EBC × 1883 Day, a special collaboration designed around discovery, learning and, of course, really good drinks.

And because it’s Independence Day and a public holiday, there’s no better excuse to step away from the usual routine, bring your people and spend the day somewhere different.

Nigeria Has a Coffee Story Too

Coffee in Nigeria isn’t new.

Coffee has been grown in Nigeria for more than a century, with production developing significantly from the 1940s and expanding through the 1950s. Today, coffee is still cultivated across several parts of the country, including regions suited to both Robusta and Arabica.

The Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria’s coffee programme supports research and development around coffee production, including Robusta cultivation and Arabica varieties on the Mambilla Plateau.

And the conversation is becoming even more interesting. From renewed interest in Nigerian coffee production to recent initiatives around coffee farming, processing, tourism and exports, there’s growing attention on what Nigeria can build around coffee.

So coffee isn’t just something we drink.

It’s agriculture.
It’s business.
It’s culture.
It’s an opportunity.
And it’s a story that Nigerians can participate in.

That’s part of why experiences like this matter.

☕ So, What’s Happening Tomorrow?

We’re bringing that spirit of discovery to EBC × 1883 Day.

🍸 Visit the Pop-Up Bar

It’s a public holiday. You don’t have anywhere you need to rush to.

🥄 Taste Something New

Our Sampling Counter gives you the opportunity to explore different flavours and discover something you might just want to recreate at home.

💸 Enjoy the Mini Bar

There’ll also be a discounted mini bar because sometimes the best Independence Day plan is simply good drinks, good people and nowhere else to be.

🎓 But We’re Not Just Here to Have Fun

We’re also here to learn.

Tomorrow features a special Levi Gee Masterclass, with three training sessions designed for people who want to develop their knowledge and skills.

If you’re a barista, coffee professional, café owner, aspiring café owner or simply someone who wants to learn more about coffee, this is an opportunity to get practical insights and engage with someone who understands the craft.

Registration is required to participate in the Masterclass.

This Is More Than a Pop-Up

At EBC, we believe coffee can be a point of connection — connecting people to flavour, culture, craft, business and each other.

And what better day to explore that than Independence Day?

Whether you’re looking for something fun to do in Lagos, somewhere to unwind on the public holiday, interested in coffee, curious about starting a café, or simply looking for a new experience with your friends, come spend the day with us.
